Notes : Capitola and Gonna go with the five. As i came over the hill by the railroad tracks at 815 am was met by police barricade. ” downtown is closed off for the CAPITOLA CAR SHOW. ” had to patk in the lot and walk all the down into the village with the board. Because no one had access to the downtown it was only locals who could walk there boards down to the break. Every ride was long and quality – long lulls. Its a five because I snagged one right -far far outside – at the fact peak it was wide and fat – over head high – i had lots of time to gain my composure on the face – then began making mover- long s lines down the face then up to the trim- at least three times. The wave seemed to go on forever – maybe it just seemed that way because it had such a glassy perfect shape. Per trace i know it was my seventh ride 225 yards and i was on the wave for 32 seconds. No whitewater- the dismount was off pure face. The car show was something else- 200 restored classic automobile – from 1920’s pick up trucks to mid seventies muscle cars. Speakers were mounted on the city light poles and they were blasting beach boys songs. Just listening to the shop talk was amazing- about restoring and polishing and painting and searching for original parts. Thing was there were about 200 restored cars – the restorer sat in front of the car and answered peoples questions. Every single one of them was the exact same profile- 60 Years old – Deep tan-potbellied white male. A large percentage of them also had walrus type mustaches. I went up to one guy and said: “Hi I’m a reporter from the New York Times looking to interview the “African-American Lesbian Car Restoration Club of San Diego” do you know where I can find there cars?” He looked at me aghast and said ; “I’ve never heard of such a club and I am from San Diego”…
