Notes : Cold and wind again- slightly offshore- hard to get into-but cleanish- W/G & C. Npt a whole lotta luck – felt like the east coast. Later we went to OB at Sloat to watch. It was mackin -Finnegan style- well groomed and off shore – green rooms and feathering giants – we watched slack jawed – telling stories and laughing- good times

Notes : Not bad. King high tide. clean sunny-crisp and cold. problems with glare and the crowd at times -but overall can’t complain for a thanksgiving surf. it was primarily the right at taco bell – get in early and grab 90 or so yards of glass before the dismount. somehow missed C. who was surfing same time same place.

Notes : How does that famous quote by Hobbes go? “I’m not surfing today because the waves are NASTY, BRUTISH AND SHORT. Took his advice. Headed down to beach monkey cage with G & C for stories, laughs and diet tips.

Notes : OVERCAST AND CHILLY W/SLIGHT CROSS OFFSHORE. Nice action right in front of the A lot pump house. It wasn’t like a peak – the waves rolled in as one long line that seemed to stretch the entire length of linda mar from end to end. however they did.t close out all at once-one section would arch up and break by volleyballs -another section broke in front of the a lot pump house – and still another section would break further south by taco bell- thus three surfers were surfing basically the same wave in distant parts of the beach. you had to get in early and ride it high-no bottom turn sissyness-kind of cool and challenging

Notes : Overcast and from the higway FLAT- but as i rounded the bend i saw one sweet mound breaking on the north end- in business. I hoofed it ALL the way up north. In the lineup T and T2- maybe two other people. It was a wait but it was a strange wide breaking wave that stayed open almost to the shore. The rides felt much longer than what the stats bear out. On a couple I thought- wow that was 150 yards of pure face- turns out my longest was only 88 yards. go figure

Notes : It seriously flattened out. Everyone was north – near creeps. A pod was right in front of the A lot pump house catching nothing – however I thought it was due to lack of ability. It was a tiny clean micro peak but I surmised if you got in early it was glidable. Indeed it was- and once in a while an outside wave popped up – so it was quite fun – without having to take the long hike up north to creeps. 20 or so rides but nothing over 90 or so yards…

Notes : Well well well what to make of today? It was lumpy and shifty- got in right after hi-tide-the sun was rising in a clear sky and it seemed like an army of weekend warriors were entering the water at the same time. Everyone seemed to congregate between the A lot pumphouse and taco bell – scrambling for the same swampy peak. The problem I found was the glare-it was so strong even when I grabbed a line I had to surf with the brakes on because I couldn’t determine if some soft top jabroni was in my flight path. I paddled north of the A lot pumphouse primarily because it offered a clean flight path – it was a longer wait – however the wave seemed to have more of a line and more energy and a clear flight path. Caught a few. Others migrated. At one point I had sweet positioning for a sizable right –but the glare!!!- I couldn’t see except for a very nice right face- who was down there??? Who was further down the line??? I couldn’t tell so I aborted at the last possible second – Glare Abortion. On another wave I managed to ascertain a clear light path on a sweet open line when just after take off I slipped off the board. Probably happened because I have not de waxed since the big chill out (September 19th). Thus, my board was essentially 2 inches of wax on the deck- waxing was pointless-just making some weird landscaping on the board that had little to do with helping with traction. (I de waxed today and the board now feels as heavy as a 5’10” al merrick potato chip). After two hours I found my self positioned very nicely for a head high right hander- the sun had risen high enough to allow me to see the flight path. I launched or rather was sept up into the curl and with two steps was near the nose- a clear line unfolding. I heard someone paddling out scream my name (M – I am 90% certain)- I milked it for 175 yards –pure face time – no white water yardage- 32 seconds of ride time at a maximum speed of 15 mph. Session Over.
