Notes : Drained low tide. Some heft and size – especially at first bowl where it was shortboard city. Sets had nice fast hollow shape- locals said it was “soft” but could have fooled me. Surfed much better sitting over at the edge of second bowl – the last spot before you head over to Sharks – which was also crowded. I managed to sneak in some really nice fast zippy rights in the first 1.5 hour. The second half was a different story – got crowded with loud mouths. Here is what I texted to Odle and Gina in Thailand: “Yesterday early AM at hook was good. Then it got REALLY CROWDED with major misogynist super asshat Shortboarders – all trying to out yell and out obnoxious the next toxic shit for brains local… ( ie twice divorced Soquel plumber with a former meth habit)”
obnoxious-meter was code red. “All you soft tops get out now or move down to sharks” “too many fucking longboarders are out here” on and on. All white guys 35+ doing the yelling.
Some of the yellers were really really good surfers, however, the majority were not , just slightly above average.
(Really good surfers say nothing because they have the skills to avoid any and all kooks.)
If you are going to be a regulator you need to be respectful reasonable and helpful – not like some surfing corey lewendawski- trumps re election SS thug…
