Notes : Well, that was quite a dry spell of pretty much dead flat onshore un surf able waves for the AM. Calendar shows quite some years with that flat of surf . Very East coast like. However , today there was waves. I had no idea it was Dog Surfing Contest day. My god. Ten years ago this freak show was about attracted 25 – 40 NorCal’s folk who were needing their medication upped. The last two or three years this event has BALLOONED into a news worthy event attracting – by my guess somewhere North of 1000 people. Cars and traffic jams everywhere. Fortunately , when I got into the B lot J was leaving so I just waited until he de-suited. If not , the next open parking space would have been somewhere in Half Moon Bay. Wave wise it kept getting better thru the two hours I was in the water – and I surfed up to snuff. Got some nice near nose rides. Whales were BREACHING and one guy said “Last year they roped me into being a judge in the dog surfing contest.” Then he said “never again”. Later on, I wanted to go up to him and say: “You know you are in a unique place in the cosmos. Since the life began there have been approximately 109 Billion human beings that have walked the face of the earth. All manner of carpenters, chefs, designers, bankers, coaches blah blah blah. But of those 109 Billion that have walked this earth I bet it’s under 500 who can say “I WAS A JUDGE AT A DOG SURFING CONTEST.”
