Notes : Back to Capitola. Mellower than yesterday but still a 4. Can’t believe I had a longer ride today than yesterday. I think it has to do with speed. Yesterday the waves were much more powerful – went faster so maybe it seemed like I went longer. Some Linda folk in the water – they also had made the journey down b/c Linda was a big ole’ mess again.

Notes : Gonna go with the FIVE. It was larger and crowded. Breaking way outside. Somewhat cloudy and choppy water – but when the sets came it was usually a scramble by the outside scrum to paddle further out to gain position. Trace has my longest wave at only 258 yards- I was shocked. After that wave I said to myself – that definitely broke 300 yards – I guess not. It was a really lo tide- which makes all the difference when Capitola breaks big – makes it much easier to handle. Plus you can still get out down the beach and walk out …

Notes : LM was supposed to be ORANGE. In the B lot I was met w/nothing but disappointment H & D2 said “it sucked”. Indeed it was just closing out. Tons of folk in the water though b/c surfline predicted ORANGE. I decoded to gamble and keep going down to ole’ Capitola. Surfline had it ranked as POOR – bit I could see on the iPhone the Capitola cam showed three or folk out in the lineup- something must be breaking especially if PP was breaking at 10 ft. And it was a good call. It was breaking – some head high stuff rolling in. There were lulls – but not that bad. Some sets broke way outside and cleaned everyone up. Hardly anybody out to speak of. Got a 250 harder… Even got it on video…

Notes : Pretty nice. Clear, wind free and relatively clean. Chose the mellow, stress and anxiety free peak over by the creek. Easy out with shortish rides – but fun. only problem was the crowd- lots of folks w/chops angling for position. That and dodging jabroni’s in the impact zone

Notes : Pretty good out there. Clean with lots of breaks working. Started at Crespi but it got too heavy and hollow and I got demolished. Went down the block to the creek and found sone nice mellow login…

Notes : Not bad at Linda – by the creek. Like surfing a jigsaw puzzle – big chunky wedges that reformed into new sections. Another king high tide and Tina got swamped while trying to navigate across the rocks in front of Taco Bell! (It was that high)

Notes : Pounding all the way down the coast. Sea foam floating onto highway one. At Capitola a tree had fallen from the top of the cliff and crushed half the promenade which was closed off with yellow tape. King high tide with water smashing up against the sea wall. I waited an hour and a half for the tide to lower than paddled out. It was big. Grabbed somme nice big wedges. However got caught inside at one point and had a panic attack. Had to paddle south because –even with the tide getting low- there was no shoreline – I would have just been smashed up against the rocks. The set finally let up and I paddled back around. Took one more wave then paddled back in – even that was a chore because waves were stillpounding against the seawall. New trace – longest ride was only 179 yards – swear it felt much longer.

Notes : Too big and nasty. It was clean however – but sort of hammering. D3 said to me from his car – wait till the sets come. Big and nasty closeouts- board breaking power. Then a deceptive lull. An easy out. Then a couple of nice waves – with faces – 10 or so folk getting nice rides. Then the mounds came- cleaned up the slate. Not for me.
