Notes : Dead flat up and down the coast. back to the hook. First hour some nice clean micro glass – no complaints – one other guy in the water. then it went dead. COMPLETELY. i paddled all the way over to 38th- waited around in the scrum of a surf school. pleasure was breaking but didn’t want to broach it. finally a wave came- io weaved in between the soft boarders as the instructor said “let this local take it” funny. not bad wave. but i got out…

Notes : Slight chop in water – a peeling right and left by the a lot pump house again. A rough first half hour. couldn’t get in position – timed the sets wrong- but then i connected – some very decent rides- they felt much longer then they actually were. i think it was because they kind of barely created at the peak and then it was just rolling waist high face – no whitewater – cool and kind of weird waves

Notes : With Tina decided to hit the Bo. Heavy fog so we took the mountain route on 1- it gained elevation into pure blue sky- below us was the shroud of white that covered the coast – pretty cool. The patch didn’t seem like it was working. People out at the jetty. I noticed that a left was coming through right after the jetty that no one was on – so I hit it. It took a lot to keep in place because the current kept pulling me towards the scrum at the jetty. But it was well worth it. These very sizable wide breaking lefts would come through for nice long rides- basically from the middle of bolinas beach to near the entrance walkway. Very nice -some with six and speed – racing ahead of sections. B6 in the water. Should have put on the sunscreen because the fog burned off and I got burnt- plus with all the paddling i just felt completely knackered …

Notes : Capitola and Gonna go with the five. As i came over the hill by the railroad tracks at 815 am was met by police barricade. ” downtown is closed off for the CAPITOLA CAR SHOW. ” had to patk in the lot and walk all the down into the village with the board. Because no one had access to the downtown it was only locals who could walk there boards down to the break. Every ride was long and quality – long lulls. Its a five because I snagged one right -far far outside – at the fact peak it was wide and fat – over head high – i had lots of time to gain my composure on the face – then began making mover- long s lines down the face then up to the trim- at least three times. The wave seemed to go on forever – maybe it just seemed that way because it had such a glassy perfect shape. Per trace i know it was my seventh ride 225 yards and i was on the wave for 32 seconds. No whitewater- the dismount was off pure face. The car show was something else- 200 restored classic automobile – from 1920’s pick up trucks to mid seventies muscle cars. Speakers were mounted on the city light poles and they were blasting beach boys songs. Just listening to the shop talk was amazing- about restoring and polishing and painting and searching for original parts. Thing was there were about 200 restored cars – the restorer sat in front of the car and answered peoples questions. Every single one of them was the exact same profile- 60 Years old – Deep tan-potbellied white male. A large percentage of them also had walrus type mustaches. I went up to one guy and said: “Hi I’m a reporter from the New York Times looking to interview the “African-American Lesbian Car Restoration Club of San Diego” do you know where I can find there cars?” He looked at me aghast and said ; “I’ve never heard of such a club and I am from San Diego”…

Notes : Back at the A lot pump house. Not breaking quite as frequently. The wave sort of bunched up then backed off – pretty frustrating. However, when a breaking wedge would come through it had some speed and power. had one wave at 21.3 MPH- very fast for linda
