Notes : Clear windless. slight chop in the water but overall Clean. Waves were lumpy, shiftless and close outy. Not well groomed – hunt and peck for a ridable section -near the creek. up north seemed to have the occasional more open sections coming through. Had one nice little gem. Overall unremarkable -for me it looked better than it actually surfed. Since returning from NYC July 14th have surfed every day – thus today is 100th day in a row surfing.

Notes : Blue skies glassy, lumpy wedges at the creek. some nice sliders. Sun was a problem – at one point I had a nice long section but could not see in front of me because of the sun. You realize why alot of good surfers hoot and holler when paddling out sometime- it really is to alert other surfers -hey I’m here so don’t run me over

Notes : Looked terrible from the B lot – overcast, misty onshore. sizable jumbled up uninviting mess. But T2 was already out by boatdox. I suited up. It turned about pretty good. Easy to catch -with some sizable, wedgy chuncks that warbled to a finish but kind of reformed. O joined us and said his friend was a mechanic for the coast guard who this past Wednesday during an aerial patrol spotted 25 GWSharks between Pacifica pier and Pedro Point (outer boat dox). He said “they stopped counting” at 25. Not the kind of report you wanna hear out in a murky watered lineup. He said they were “close to shore” . I argued for the coast guard “close to shore” might mean “within a mile of shore” Anyway, some great rides. I took off my leash -as is my wont- when i was getting out and it got tangled in a BASKETBALL size sack of seaweed which I couldn’t untangle b/c it was so thick. So I started to twirl it around my nead like some Neptunes shot put. when I released that thing sailed through the air and landed in the front porch of one of those boat dox fishing shanties. Ten more feet and it would have crashed through their window…

Notes : Wretched Linda. Onshore close out slop AND crowded. M2 & B suiting up in B lot. Surprised me b/c they are usually more discriminating. As they paddled out I checked the Bolinas surf report- it started “long lines…” . Read no more. Hightailed it N. back to SF and over the GG to B-town. Had to park on the highway leading into B. because every surf hippy and Viagra male model was hittin’ the Bo. Patch had inside and a far, far outside breaking wave. However, the two were not connecting like on September 7th. So, my misgivings about not surfing the Bo’ during ShArktOber were cast aside with the promise of a decent slide. Thusly, I paddled outside. Cross offshore was heavy so it was a constant “keep in position” paddle-game. Still -all in all- almost a four. My performance was poor due to my lack of proper wave selection. The waves I did get I surfed okay. However, I should have (and indeed could have) gotten bigger, better and longer rides – but I didn’t. It was a positioning problem and failure to really read the swell. Had a glorious time but given the shifting problems of the swell I failed to respond as I should have…

Notes : Overcast. Crumbly-small-dribbly-but surfable w/pddly little re-forms. At one point I had a nice section in front of me – a right- but I turned into the section too quickly nearly falling off but I trailed my hand into the breaking wave and it stabalized me long enough to re-gain my footing. I drove it high and made a nice longish section

Notes : Clear blue skies in the Mission but descending into Pacifica the fog was thicker than I had ever seen before – had to utilize the fog lights and reduce speed to a crawl. “A” lot was half full. “B” also had cars – so people must be in the water. Fog was like the airport scene in Casablanca. Had to walk all the way down to the edge of the beach -by the creek- to finally see people bobbing out in the water. they were like ghost shadows. As I was suiting up the sun started to break through the fog bank -like a light bulb behind a shroud. Oddly enough you could spot blue skies south – over by the point. Paddling out in the lineup visibility became much clearer. There was alot of folk (for a monday) in the water. Very quickly the sun started to burn away the fog revealing patches of blue. Very clean but shifty and lumpy. First half hour was a dud. Just hunt and peck for scraps that looked good at first but then dissolved into closed out jumbles. I kept paddling North which was the wrong thing to do. I finally headed south – back to the creek and things opened up with the sky. Suddenly you could see clearly down to boatdox and the creek peak started working. Consistently got better – rights and lefts. Clean quick and jazzy. I had a no paddle left-just kind pointed the board down and the wave offered itself up to me
