Notes : Expected nothing. Got to Matunuch parking lot a saw about 4 people in the lineup. 4 people watching. It was small but glassy -little micro peaks pushing through. I waxed up on the beach. A guy came over because he recognized Ellen’s board but not me. i guess he assumed i robbed the heymans and was now flagrantly riding the stolen board a mere 10 minutes from the theft. I told him i was an inlay od the heymans and new gina, ellen and andrew. convinced i was not a meth addicted freak. he then subtly dropped the rock he was holding behind his back. the rocks were quite painful. it was very nice mesh- some clean little rights coming through. surfed with a very nice indian psychologist. at the end of the sesh two pretty good hipster longboard guys came in – everyone very friendly. later had the singles tennis match w/mikel and that night maeves birthday …

Notes : Another pretty good day. helldrunken a hot even at 730. glassy. folk in the water early. some very good surfers, especially a woman with blond hair and ochre longboard. we take off on the same wave on the video. she was quite impressive. that night mikel and i went to see dylan at the west side tennis club. haven’t been in tennis stadium since i was a ballboy in the vilas connors final in 79. sell out crowd of 14k. many in crowd were there last time dylan played the west side- exactly 50 years ago – second concert after going electric (newport was the first). dylan was in his old time crooner persona – doing excellently phrased croaky versions of sinatra standards. many a folk were in walkers. mood was tense because of the dallas shootings and tears were shed and fists pumped when he launched into blowing in the wind. some kind of connection with everyone on the social activist spectrum- with purple storm clouds swirling in the sky. a funny moment- some jabroni screams our “ISIS” a fave song from desire but obviously not something you yell in a crowded stadium nowadays…

Notes : That was a lot of work for not much reward. paddling from one end to the other looking for anything ridable. Trace says 33 rides- but most of them were just pathetic little crumbles that were over just before they began. only about three waves of note and even they weren’t much to speak of. Plus it got crowded w/kooky jabrones. however 1.7 miles paddled and over 800 cals. surprised to see some dolphins in the lineup one had his fin tangled up in a giant Target plastic bag that was filled with what looked like hospital medical waste. The Jabroni next to me said: “look dere’s Flipper totin’ a bag of garbage like some homeless nut in Central Park- dats’ beautiful”
